The short version
- Your test answers are scored in your browser. We never see or store your individual answers — only your final scores.
- Results are saved on your own device unless you create an account, in which case your scores and reports are saved to your account so you can revisit them.
- Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy. We never see your card number.
- Paid reports are written by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude). Only your numeric scores are sent to generate them — never your name or email.
- Our traffic analytics is cookieless and anonymous. We do not run advertising trackers and we never sell your data.
- You can delete your test results or your entire account yourself, any time, from your account page.
1. Who we are
ERStyles.com ("ERStyles," "we," "us") is an emotion regulation assessment website. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, email us at [email protected] — we answer privacy questions directly.
2. Information we collect
Test answers and results
When you take the free test or a paid deep-dive test, your answers are tallied into scores entirely within your browser. Your individual question-by-question answers are never transmitted to us or stored by us. What is kept:
- On your device: your scores, your dominant style, and (for paid tests) your generated report are saved in your browser's local storage so your results page works and reloads without repeating the test.
- In your account (only if you create one): the same scores, dominant style, completion time, and generated report are saved to our database so you can view past results from any device.
Account information
If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only in securely hashed form by our authentication provider (Supabase) — neither we nor Supabase can read your actual password.
Purchase information
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment details (card number, billing address) directly — that information never touches our servers. Lemon Squeezy sends us a record of each order: what was bought, the order number, the amount and currency, the order status, and the email address used at checkout. We store this so your account shows your purchases and so we can help with support and refunds.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and message, and we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to help you.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: our host, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP addresses and request details to serve the site and defend it against attacks and abusive bots.
- Analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless tool that counts page views in aggregate without storing anything on your device or identifying individual visitors — described fully in our Cookie Policy.
3. How we use your information
- To run the tests and show, save, and restore your results.
- To create and manage your account and keep you signed in.
- To deliver what you purchased, including generating paid reports and tracking how many report generations ("takes") a purchase has remaining.
- To send transactional email (receipts, password resets) and, only if you opt in, occasional marketing email — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To respond to support requests.
- To understand aggregate site usage and improve the site.
- To secure the site, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own advertising.
4. AI-generated reports
Paid deep-dive reports are written by Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. To generate your report, we send Anthropic only your numeric scores and your dominant style name — never your name, email address, or anything else that identifies you. Under Anthropic's API terms, data sent this way is not used to train their models. The finished report is stored with your result (on your device, and in your account if you have one) so viewing it again never requires regenerating it.
5. Service providers we share data with
We use a small number of companies to run the site. Each receives only what it needs to do its job:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or as part of a business transfer (in which case this policy continues to apply to your data).
6. Cookies and local storage
We keep cookies to a minimum and use your browser's local storage for most of the site's memory (your results, your sign-in session). The full list of what we set, why, and how to control it is in our Cookie Policy.
7. How long we keep information
- Account data and saved results: until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting your account permanently removes your saved results and disconnects your purchase records from you.
- Results on your device: until you clear your browser's site data (or use the sign-out/clear options on the site).
- Purchase records: kept as long as required for accounting, tax, and refund-handling obligations.
- Support correspondence: as long as needed to resolve your request and a reasonable period afterward.
8. Your rights and choices
You can act on most of this yourself, immediately:
- Delete your test results from your account page.
- Delete your entire account from the same page — this permanently removes your saved data.
- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any such email.
- Clear locally stored data — the Cookie Policy lists exactly what lives in your browser and how to remove it.
Depending on where you live — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and certain U.S. states such as California — you may also have legal rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We honor these requests regardless of where you live: email [email protected] and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act. If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. A note on the nature of this data
Your test scores describe emotional response patterns, which many people consider personal. We treat them accordingly: they are scored in your browser, stored against your account only if you choose to create one, never sold, never used for advertising, and deletable by you at any time. ERStyles is an educational self-reflection tool — your results are not medical or health records, and no test on this site is a clinical instrument or diagnosis.
10. Security
All traffic to the site is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed, database access is restricted so each user can only read their own rows, and payment details are handled exclusively by Lemon Squeezy. No online service can promise perfect security, but we design so that the sensitive path — your money and your sign-in — is handled by specialists.
11. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our service providers store data primarily in the United States. If you use the site from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. Our providers rely on recognized safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers where required.
12. Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes — such as a new category of data collection — we will provide a more prominent notice on the site or by email.
